A native of Jackson, Mississippi soprano Tiffany Townsend is making a name for her “powerhouse” of a voice. In 2022, Tiffany Townsend returned to Opera Philadelphia as the featured soloist in George Walker's Lilacs and she also performed Strauss's Four Last Songs with the Artosphere Festival Orchestra with Maestro Corrado Rovaris. In the summer of 2022, she was a Filene Artist with Wolf Trap Opera performing Samuel Barber’s Knoxville Summer of 1915 with the National Orchestral Institute + Festival. She was a member of Opera Philadelphia’s Emerging Artist Program for the 2019-2020 and the 2021-2022 seasons. 

She joined the LA Opera’s Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program in the 2019/20 season. At LAO, she has been seen as Léontine in The Anonymous Lover in 2020, Ines in Il Trovatore in 2021, and Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia in 2023. 

She was the recipient of the 2021 Richard F. Gold Career Grant from the Shoshana Foundation. 

Ms. Townsend holds a Professional Studies Certificate in Opera from the Curtis Institute of Music, a Master of Music from the Juilliard School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Millsaps College. 

Upcoming engagements include: Verdi Requiem with Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra, George Walker’s Lilacs and Faure Requiem with The New Jersey Symphony, George Walker’s Lilacs with the National Orchestral Institute + Festival, & will return to Wolf Trap Opera as a Filene artist performing the role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni.
